Altar for Atlanta

Dual color block print on East Asian paper
12 x 12 inches (framed)
2021

I was devastated by the Atlanta mass shooting on March 16, 2021. The white moon jar, a classic Korean ceramic vessel which is thought to represent the gentle qualities of women and beauty of nature, honors the Asian women, four of them Korean, whose lives were lost in the race based massacre in Atlanta. The red moon above the moon jar is a reminder of the blood of the victims. White chrysanthemums are mourning flowers laid on altars at Korean funerals. This piece was made in honor and remembrance of the Asian women Atlanta shooting victims.
