I was inspired by the sight lines, colors and the environs of Hapuna Beach on Hawai’i Island, one of my favorite places. With so much chaos and suffering in our world due to violence, global conflicts and aggression, political drama and devastating climate events, I was yearning for a sense of grounding and joy. Drawing the spiral, piko, and contemplating on the concepts of its meaning centering and new beginnings, and the meditative nature of repetitive stamping and making lines of stitches soothed my heart.
